Why Sell Your Aga to Us

Experience that protects your home. Moving an Aga is not like moving a standard cooker. It is heavy cast iron with enamel surfaces that can chip if mishandled. Our engineers dismantle, protect, and load every section with care. Floors and worktops are protected. We leave your kitchen tidy.

Straightforward quoting. We value on age, model, fuel type, size, condition and access. You get a clear offer without pressure. If you accept, we book a date that suits you.

Collection where you live. We cover Yorkshire and the North. Collection is quoted by distance from our showroom. If access is tricky we can plan additional equipment or an extra pair of hands.

Prompt payment. You are paid by bank transfer or another agreed method on collection or beforehand. No chasing and no uncertainty.

Honest advice. If selling is not your best option we will say so. Many owners discover that conversion, refurbishment or re-enamelling gets them what they want without parting with the cooker they love.

What We Buy

We consider most traditional cast-iron Agas, including the common sizes and several less typical configurations:

  • 2-oven, 3-oven and 4-oven models. From compact two ovens through to larger family cookers, we buy a wide range of sizes.

  • Gas, oil and electric versions. Each fuel has different refurbishment paths and value points, which we factor into your offer.

  • Older and newer enamel colours. Classic creams, deep greens, blues and modern shades are all of interest.

  • Working, non-working and part complete units. Even if the burner is removed or the hotplates no longer heat, many parts retain value.

If you are unsure which model you have, do not worry. Clear photos will help us identify the model, the door layout and the key components. If anything is missing, we will tell you how that affects pricing so you can decide with full information.

How to Prepare Your Aga for Sale

You do not need to make it perfect, but a little preparation helps you achieve the best result.

Thorough clean: Clean ovens, hotplates, doors and the enamel front. A clean Aga photographs well and shows it has been cared for.

Inspect and note: Check door seals, hinges, thermostat and flue parts. Note any issues. Keep any manuals, spares and service records.

Take clear photos:

  • Front view with doors closed
  • Lids up showing hotplates
  • Each oven interior
  • Side panels and handrails
  • Any chips, rust or dents
  • Flue route and termination
  • A wide shot of the room and access route to the door

Access check: Measure key doorways and tight turns. Tell us about steps, narrow paths and parking restrictions. This helps us plan safe removal.

Fuel and utilities: If the cooker is live on gas or oil, do not disconnect anything. We will send a qualified engineer. If it is electric, we will advise on isolation.

The Selling Process

Step 1. Enquiry and photos: Send your postcode, model if known, and the photos listed above. We will confirm any details we need and give an initial value range.

Step 2. Offer: Once we have confirmed condition and logistics, we give you an offer. No hidden charges. Removal cost is included within the agreed collection scope.

Step 3. Collection booking: We agree a date and time. You will know who is attending and how long it will take. We bring floor protection, blankets and lifting aids.

Step 4. Safe dismantling and removal: We carefully remove lids, doors, hotplates and ovens. Sections are wrapped and secured before loading. We tidy as we go and leave the space ready for your next steps.

Step 5. Payment: We confirm payment details ahead of time.

If plans change: If you change your mind before collection, tell us as soon as possible. We will reschedule or cancel.

Upgrade or Trade-In Options

If you decide to move on from your Aga, don’t forget to check out our full range of Aga solutions:

  • Trade-In/Swap: Want a newer model or a different size? We offer an Aga exchange option. Trade in your current cooker against one of our expertly reconditioned Aga cookers for sale. Our showroom has classic 2-oven, spacious 4-oven and even converted-electric Agas at competitive prices (see our Reconditioned Aga Prices for details).

  • Electric Conversion: Rather than selling, many owners convert their old Aga to electric. This replaces the combustion system with modern electric elements, giving you precision control and lower running costs while keeping that classic cast-iron look.

  • Refurbishment: We can refurbish your existing Aga – cleaning, updating inner parts and restoring efficiency. Our full Aga Refurbishment process takes your cooker back to “like new” condition.

  • Re-Enamelling: To refresh its appearance, consider our Aga re-enamelling services. We can refinish your Aga in a new color, removing chips and blemishes so it looks beautifully restored.

  • Servicing & Repair: Not ready to let go? Our expert technicians can service and repair your Aga to prolong its life. We handle everything from worn seals to faulty flues, check Aga Servicing and Repair for details.

By keeping these options in mind, you can make the best decision for your home and budget.

Very friendly, very helpful, and lots of advice. The whole process from visiting the showroom, to the installation of our Electrikit Advanced 2-oven Aga in Northern Counties Cream (our choice - though with so many enamel colours to choose from, well.....!}, went extremely smoothly - and ended with a quick run through of operation, and time for questions and answers.

After decades of using all the different types of Aga, and Rayburn, this new one is a whole different kettle of fish and takes a bit of getting used to. But it is definitely the Aga for today, offering lots of flexibility, yet still the delights of cooking in a proper cast-iron oven. To save fuel, one doesn't have to switch the whole caboodle off for the summer, as one might have done in the past - or, if you go away on holiday, it is no different from switching off your immersion heater.

To increase flexibility of use, one can programme the Aga, just as you might your house central-heating/water heating - plus you can put all this on an App on your 'pnone, so you can switch the Aga on and off etc., remotely. However, with just having moved house and, so far, every day being a whirlwind of seemingly essential jobs, we haven't had time to try out all this modern tech.. But, we will!

Thank you, all at John Wray!

Exceptional - a brilliant company to do business with and surely the best AGA company in the north of England (if not nationally). I cannot recommend Stuart and his team enough - from the moment we contacted John Wray Country Stoves, we felt valued as customers and nothing was too much trouble. All of our questions were answered very knowledgeably and the installation process was 100% stress-free (including the removal of our old AGA). Stuart even made a minor repair to my woodburner, even though he and his colleage (another lovely guy) had worked all day to install the AGA and had a long drive back to North Yorkshire .All in all, the best people we've worked with during our house renovations and highly recommended.

A really super job from John Wray Country Stoves and AEM Range Cooker Services converting our gas Aga to the Electrickit Advanced.

It was fascinating to see. Very excited to get to grips with it. I am enjoying the induction hob and I can now turn the oven on from the train home, using the App.

The team at John Wray were so friendly, helpful and straightforward to deal with from first contact through to installation. They and Alex from AEM were a pleasure to have around on the day of the work. I can highly and whole heartedly recommend them.

Thank you to Stuart, Ben and Louise for a great experience installing my much loved stove. I waited a year for this beauty to be installed when I moved house, and then was let down. But Stuart pulled out all the stops and came to my rescue. Louise was on hand to help and support and Ben cleaned up all the mess and made the whole experience effortless. I'm keen to save up for an aga so any advice or support will be appreciated. A great team and an impeccable service.
