What is an Aga Range Cooker?
An Aga is an iconic cast-iron range cooker, loved for its gentle radiant heat and its presence at the heart of the home. Rather than switching on and off like a conventional cooker, a traditional Aga stores heat in its cast-iron core and releases it steadily, keeping the kitchen warm and ready to cook at any time.
For many owners, an Aga is far more than an appliance. It is where muddy dogs dry off, Sunday roasts sizzle and family memories are made. That character is exactly what we work to preserve in every cooker we restore.
Aga Fuel Types
Aga range cookers have been built to run on several fuels over the years, and we work with all of them:
- Gas Agas, traditionally run on natural gas or LPG.
- Oil-fired Agas, common in rural homes off the gas grid.
- Electric Agas, including modern controllable systems.
If you have a gas or oil model and want cleaner, more controllable running, we can convert your Aga to electric, giving you quicker heat-up and gentler background warmth while keeping the cast iron you love.
Reconditioned Aga Range Cookers
Buying a reconditioned Aga is a more cost-effective way to own one of these cookers. Every Aga we recondition is fully stripped, cleaned and rebuilt with fresh seals, insulation and high-quality British-made components, then re-enamelled in a colour of your choice and tested to a high standard. Each one is backed by our 5-year warranty, with free delivery within 100 miles of our North Yorkshire showroom.

We had the innards of our oil-fired classic Aga replaced with the amazing Electrikit Advanced system. Brilliant, simple and no more oil smells in the kitchen! The service was marvellous from beginning to end: informative, efficient and quick. Stuart and Ben made short work of the conversion, were great to have around and did a thorough clean-up afterwards. Excellent service and really pleased with our Aga. We had an extremely old oil cooker that was difficult to remove and we really appreciated how hard Stuart and team worked to remove it. The Aga looks great and works perfectly. I have searched high and low for an old photo of how the old cooker looked but am yet to find one….when I eventually do I’ll update this review to show how much better our whole kitchen looks with the Aga.
