Why Choose Series X Electric Conversion?

  • Independent zone control – Each oven and hotplate is heated separately, so you only power the sections you’re using, reducing wasted energy.

  • Rapid, efficient heat-up – Hotplates reach cooking temperature in just 8–10 minutes, with boilers taking about 14 minutes; the top oven heats to 180 °C in ~44 minutes from cold.

  • Significantly lower running costs – Average daily consumption between 2.41-4.21 kWh translates into far lower energy bills compared to oil, gas, or solid fuel.

  • Flue and burner-free operation – As a fully electric system, the Series X eliminates combustion, chimney requirements, CO emissions, and the need for annual servicing.

  • Straightforward electrical fit Requires a standard 32 A supply (40 A when using InstaHeat); no flue work needed.

  • True Aga cooking feel – Electric elements wrapped around the original cast-iron ovens preserve gentle, radiant cooking.

Features of Series X Conversion

  • Zone switches and digital dials – Each cooking area is set via dedicated selector switches and temperature-controlled rotary knobs with clear digital display.

  • 370 °C hob plates included – Both stainless hob plates reach up to 370 °C independently as standard.

  • Built-in ECO modes – Pre-set low-power settings for both ovens and hobs to save energy and allow fast re-heating.

  • Optional hob upgrades – Fully compatible with InstaHeat and Pizza‑Plate hob upgrades for additional cooking flexibility.

  • High-grade insulation – The factory-installed foil insulation blanket locks in heat for better performance and lower energy use.

  • UK-built system with 5-year parts warranty – Peace of mind backed by quality engineering.

Thinking of a Bigger Upgrade?

An electric conversion is often the perfect time to take stock of the whole cooker. While we’re modernising the control system, many of our customers choose to go a step further, whether that’s refreshing tired enamel, replacing worn parts, or even swapping the entire unit for a fully reconditioned model.

We can carry out a full Aga refurbishment alongside the conversion, renewing internal components like seals, insulation, and door fittings to bring performance back to original spec.

If the enamel has seen better days, a complete Aga re-enamelling can restore that rich, glossy finish in a colour that suits your kitchen. Or, if you’re considering a complete replacement, we also offer reconditioned Agas, fully rebuilt to order, with clear, upfront pricing in our reconditioned Aga price list.

eControl Series Series X vs X-Squared

Both Series X and Series X-Squared are high-quality electric systems designed for Aga cookers, but they cater to different preferences.

The eControl Series X is ideal for those who want hands-on control via traditional rotary dials and a digital display. It offers all the core benefits of an electric Aga conversion, including fast heat-up and independent zones without extra technology.

The eControl Series X-Squared, on the other hand, is the more advanced option. It includes a sleek glass X-Touch panel, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and an intuitive mobile app for remote scheduling. Additional features like grill mode, InductaHeat hobs, and InstaHeat technology are also available.

In short: if you want smart automation and advanced control, choose Series X-Squared. If you prefer simplicity and tactile dials, Series X is the way to go.

Very friendly, very helpful, and lots of advice. The whole process from visiting the showroom, to the installation of our Electrikit Advanced 2-oven Aga in Northern Counties Cream (our choice - though with so many enamel colours to choose from, well.....!}, went extremely smoothly - and ended with a quick run through of operation, and time for questions and answers.

After decades of using all the different types of Aga, and Rayburn, this new one is a whole different kettle of fish and takes a bit of getting used to. But it is definitely the Aga for today, offering lots of flexibility, yet still the delights of cooking in a proper cast-iron oven. To save fuel, one doesn't have to switch the whole caboodle off for the summer, as one might have done in the past - or, if you go away on holiday, it is no different from switching off your immersion heater.

To increase flexibility of use, one can programme the Aga, just as you might your house central-heating/water heating - plus you can put all this on an App on your 'pnone, so you can switch the Aga on and off etc., remotely. However, with just having moved house and, so far, every day being a whirlwind of seemingly essential jobs, we haven't had time to try out all this modern tech.. But, we will!

Thank you, all at John Wray!

Exceptional - a brilliant company to do business with and surely the best AGA company in the north of England (if not nationally). I cannot recommend Stuart and his team enough - from the moment we contacted John Wray Country Stoves, we felt valued as customers and nothing was too much trouble. All of our questions were answered very knowledgeably and the installation process was 100% stress-free (including the removal of our old AGA). Stuart even made a minor repair to my woodburner, even though he and his colleage (another lovely guy) had worked all day to install the AGA and had a long drive back to North Yorkshire .All in all, the best people we've worked with during our house renovations and highly recommended.

A really super job from John Wray Country Stoves and AEM Range Cooker Services converting our gas Aga to the Electrickit Advanced.

It was fascinating to see. Very excited to get to grips with it. I am enjoying the induction hob and I can now turn the oven on from the train home, using the App.

The team at John Wray were so friendly, helpful and straightforward to deal with from first contact through to installation. They and Alex from AEM were a pleasure to have around on the day of the work. I can highly and whole heartedly recommend them.

Thank you to Stuart, Ben and Louise for a great experience installing my much loved stove. I waited a year for this beauty to be installed when I moved house, and then was let down. But Stuart pulled out all the stops and came to my rescue. Louise was on hand to help and support and Ben cleaned up all the mess and made the whole experience effortless. I'm keen to save up for an aga so any advice or support will be appreciated. A great team and an impeccable service.

Aga eControl X-Squared Conversion FAQs

Can I add InstaHeat later?

Yes. If you choose to add InstaHeat after your conversion, it can be installed as an upgrade, but it’s best fitted during the initial job to save time and cost.

Can I still cook like a traditional Aga?

Yes. You get the same radiant-heat cooking experience, warm hob plates, and multi-oven capability, but with precise control and efficiency matched to modern kitchens.

Is servicing required?

No ongoing service is required. With Series X, there’s no burner, flue, or annual maintenance - only clean, electric operation backed by a 5-year parts warranty.

How long does the installation take?

The standard installation is completed in 1 full working day. We strip out the old system, fit the new elements and control panel, and recommission everything onsite.

What are typical running costs?

Series X is extremely economical: Ovens used once daily: ~2.41 kWh/day; Ovens used twice daily: ~4.21 kWh/day; Both hobs in ECO mode: ~0.40 kWh/day.
